Event Details
The Turtle Island Restoration Network will DIVE into the history of sea turtles! We will travel back to the pre-historic late Cretaceous period and discover what it meant to be a sea turtle 100-66 million years ago. We will then PADDLE to today's times and explore how the appearance and lifestyle of today’s 7 species of sea turtles is similar or different compared to their ancient descendants.
- Key topics and ideas that will be discussed are:
- How sea turtles have adapted to their current and past lifestyles and what environmental characteristics may have caused these adaptive changes.
- Past and current threats sea turtles face.
- Sea Turtle life cycle and life history.
- How participants can take an active individual promise to help protect today’s sea turtles and keep them from going extinct!
